Convection ovens have been on the market for decades and for several years now we have seen excellent quality electric ovens popping up on the market, so it should come as no surprise that the 2 technologies have been married to create air fryers. The interesting thing though is that they took the technology one step further and created something that is better than both those cooking systems. The convection oven is great but a lot of the heat goes to waste in that huge on with a tiny piece of meat or potatoes in the center of it. The electric oven is great but it does not have the convection function. Some of the best air fryers today are both small and therefore can use the convention principles in a much better way than a regular oven could. We were actually impressed during our research to find just how efficient air fryers really are, and also how much smart technology can be packed into a very small package. We have actually detail some of these features in our in depth reviews we have provided for you, so make sure to scroll past the list itself to find the significant factors that may influence your choice.
1. Philips HD9230/26 Digital Air Fryer
The best choice you currently have on the market, albeit somewhat picks expensive, is the Philips HD9230/26 Digital Air Fryer. It has a double layer rack and a star-shaped bottom that maximize the effects of the convention currents created by the hot air as it is being pushed through the heating element. That may seem like a lot of unnecessary science and the fact remains that the Philips HD9230/26 Digital AirFryer is one of the simplest air fryers you could try. It has a digital touchscreen interface that allows you to set up the temperature, and a 60 minute timer. This all translates into a system that allows you to cook any type of food with a lot less oil and in a lot less time than using any of the conventional methods. You can cook a whole chicken in 30 minutes, pork usually takes just 20 minutes depending on the thickness of the meat, and potatoes can be done in 15 minutes depending on how thick you cut them. You will have to add a tablespoon of oil to the potatoes in order to get that crispy texture, but still you are using a lot less oil than if you used a deep fryer and the end result is pretty much the same.
2. Homeleader® Oil – less Air Fryer HLK58-004
there is a cheaper alternative than the Philips that does pretty much the same thing and it is the Homeleader® Oil – less Air Fryer HLK58-004. We have tested it for several types of cooking and for several weeks on end and we were quite impressed with its capabilities. It does not have a digital screen to adjust temperature and time, but it does have setting that works just as good. Of course is your concerned about the look of your kitchen, the Philips is the better choice, but if you are also keeping an eye on your expenses, then the Homeleader is a much more affordable alternative. The important thing to highlight here is that air fryers, at least the ones we are talking about on our list have nothing to do with microwaves. The technical necessities that cook your meals in an air fryer are essentially what humankind has been using for thousands of years. The only difference is that they are used in a much more efficient way you to the way we can generate heat now and our understanding of physics.
3. Philips HD9220/26 Air Fryer
Although we are fully confident that the Homeleader air fryer is an excellent product, we understand that there is a very strong cultural tendency towards going with the more respectable manufacturer and that is the best guarantee of quality. So if you are looking for something that is as reliable as the first and Fryer we talked about, and somewhat more affordable in the way of the 2nd one, the best choice you currently have is the Philips HD9220/26 AirFryer. They have basically been done away with the digital input LCD screen and have opted to go with the more traditional analog temperature and time control panel. You can take out the parts that gets dirty during the cooking process and put them in the dishwasher as they are dishwasher safe.
4. Smart Health Digital Programmable LCD Air Fryer
if you are willing to give up your preconceptions about the importance of a brand name, then you can get the best of both worlds. You can get an air fryer that is both affordable and comes with an LCD display. The Smart Health Digital Programmable LCD Air Fryer actually has more settings so you get a better control of your cooking than with the Philips, it has a digital display that allows you to monitor the stage you are in the cooking process, and it has the same cooking capabilities as the Philips. It is dishwasher safe, and just as reliable as any air fryer we have seen to date.
5. GoWISE USA 8-in-1 Electric Air Fryer
A cheaper alternative to the Smart Health air fryer, is the GoWISE USA 8-in-1 Electric Air Fryer. It too has the digital display, and it has a different pre-sets that are great if you have never used an air fry before and do not want to spend that much time reading the recipe booklet that comes with the device. You simply tell the machine what dish you have set in, and it works out the perfect timing to cook it in. So you can choose between a chips, chicken, meat, meaning mostly pork, fish, or several other important settings. The only significant difference between this and the Philips is that the timer only goes up to 30 minutes and not to 60 minutes. However, we do not consider that the deal breaker, because most of the foods you would want to cook in an air fryer, do not actually need more than 30 minutes to finish.
