As anyone who has ever used a bread machine will know, the most difficult part about having homemade bread is the fact that you can never cut the slices to that ideal thickness all the way through. That is why we believe anyone buying a bread machine should also get a bread slicer. There is an inherent problem with that term, though, because it has come to mean both a fancy type of electric knife, and an aid to cutting the perfect slice. However, it has been our experience that the knife is not as important as the tool for cutting the right thickness bread. So we decided to look at some of the best alternatives you currently have on the market for slicing bread. We have taken into consideration not only how efficient a tool is every bread slicers we are going to talk about today is, but also how much money you should be paying for it and whether it has any advantage to motivate that price difference. What resulted was the following list detailing the best bread slicer choices for different size families and needs. So we do encourage you to scroll on past the list and read the in depth reviews we have prepared for each product. That way you will be able to make up your mind about which slicer is the best one for your needs.
1.Bread Slicer Elite, Brushed Stainless Steel Guide and Maple Wood Bread Board

You may find this difficult to believe but, in actuality, the best bread slicer is also the simplest model we could find. Unfortunately this is also one of the more expensive slicers on the market but we believe it is worth the money for the right family. This is the slicer you would need to have if you have a large family, or if you have a lot of friends over, and everyone likes different thickness slices of bread. It has a solid maple wood board that is both light and sturdy, and a single stainless steel slicing guide. The advantage in using a single slicing guide is that you can cut the slices as thick or as thin as you want and you may vary the thickness level. We were particularly pleased to see the quality of the rubber feet on the bottom of the slicer. They were hand made in the US so you can be sure that you will not lose after a couple of months of use. In fact the thing that we loved the most about the Bread Slicer Elite is the fact that it exudes quality and we are certain it would look great on any kitchen cook top.
2.Kitchen Craft Bread Keeper, Expanding

There is a very good reason why you would want the Kitchen Craft Bread Keeper. For the money, you get one of the best bread slicers on the market, and a perfectly good bread box. Its biggest disadvantage is the fact that the slice thickness is predetermined so you cannot vary according to the individual preferences of your family and friends. On the plus side, though, you get a perfectly designed bread box, with holes that will keep the bread from going stale, and you can go through a entire loaf of bread that much faster, while cutting it. All you need to do is set the bread in place and you can slice it yourself just as fast and as even as they do in the shops. Still, the other thing that we did not like was the fact that the board does not have a rim, so if the crust is very crispy, it will fly all over your table.
3.Bread Slicer – Multi-functional

As you probably already know the Japanese were the original minimalists, so it seems only fit that the one multifunction product on our list would be Japanese. The Multifunctional Bread Slicer has precise slots in the slicer guide that allow you to cut 4 different thickness levels from 1 to 2.5 centimeters, that is from 0.4 to 1 inch. This could actually be our favorite bread slicer, but it has one glaring problem: it was designed from regular, shop bought bread, and there are plenty of loaf sizes that come out of a bread machine that simply will not fit in this slicer. So if you own one of those small machines, that you have it made and we could not be happier for you, however, if you have a large family and a large bread maker, than this slicer will not do.
4.DB-Tech Bamboo Wood Compact Foldable Bread Slicer

The DB-Tech Bamboo Bread Slicer is, by far, the snazziest product on our list, and, as result, will probably not suit the individual tastes of some of our readers. However, we liked it enough to include it on our list of the best bread slicer choices on the market today. Despite first appearances it actually allows you to cut 3 different levels of thickness, because the slots are larger on one end and become narrower at the other. The obvious problem with that is that, if you like a particular thickness level, you can’t just put the bread in and start slicing; you will have to move it forward or backwards every 3 slices so as to keep it in the range that you like best.
5.Norpro 370 Bread Slicer and Guide with Crumb Catcher

There are several things that drew us to the Norpro 370 Bread Slicer and we should really start with those. For one thing, it is the cheapest bread slicer on our list. Second, it has a crumb catcher worked into the base, so it will keep things nice and tidy in your kitchen. The reason why it is our last choice is the fact that the slicing guides only allow for one level of thickness and they are not as sturdy as the ones on the other bread slicers we have looked at so far. That is not to say that they will not do the job right, but that, as we went through the testing process, the Norpro 370 Bread Slicer was the only product that we felt we had to be very careful with and to treat it gingerly.
