Best Kegerator

The first and most important thing that we need to mention in the beginning of our search for the best kegerator on the market is that kegerators are not for everyone. They actually do represent a significant commitment both in terms of maintenance and consumption. Even when stored properly in a kegerator beer will not last for more than 2 or 3 months from the moment it was manufactured. You need to always use a CO2 tank to keep the keg pressurized, and the pipes need to be cleaned every 2 weeks or else your beer will pick up a strange, old taste.  The other thing to consider is the fact that an average size kegerator is about the same size as a dishwasher and it is almost twice as tall, so you will need a pretty formidable kitchen to place it in. The fact that the kegs themselves are quite heavy also means you can’t just hide your keg in the garage because it may be difficult to load the kegs. So taking all of these factors into consideration, we still think that owning a kegerator is one of the coolest moves you could make, especially if you are a beer enthusiast, and that is why we have put together the following list of the best kegerators on the market and right after that we have also given you a detailed review about each product so you will know what to expect.

If you are looking for the best value for your money, and have come to the conclusion that you do indeed have enough space for a full size kegerator, your best choice on the market today is the Smart+ Products Freestanding Kegerator. There are several advantages that recommend Smart+ Products Freestanding Kegerator over other products in its class, not the least of which being the fact that it is very well priced. The other thing that we love about it is the fact that the CO2 tank fits right inside the fridge itself, so you can have a very slick, bar style beer tap with no nasty wires hanging around and about it. The kegerator can be adapted to hold anything up to and including a full sized keg, plus the CO2 tank, or you can remove all that and set in the 2 racks that it comes with and turn it into a regular wine and beer refrigerator. Its temperature ranges from 34 to 45 degrees, so you can be sure that neither you, nor anyone else will set it too low and freeze the beer thus destroying it and even risking to explode the keg.

2. EdgeStar Full Size Dual Tap Kegerator

Of course there will always be people who want something that little be better, more versatile and in the world of kegs there is only one thing that is an open tap to a keg of draft beer and that is 2 open tabs. The way the EdgeStar Full Size Dual Tap Kegerator works is it can be hooked up and can store 2 half size kegs, so you can have 2 different types of beer in there. That means the size of the kegerator is not really that much bigger than the Smart+ Products one, its internal architecture though is different. It comes with its own CO2 tank, but you will need to have it filled up yourself, but you get the pace of mind of knowing that the tank will fit perfectly inside. The one thing that the EdgeStar Full Size Dual Tap Kegerator does not have is you cannot convert it to a wine bar, but, since you are going for the much more expensive, double tab version, it would actually be absurd to ever convert such a beauty to what is essentially a fridge.

3. EdgeStar Mini Kegerator Refrigerator

As long as your favorite beer is Heineken you can get a kegerator that is not that much bigger, in terms of floor space, than a large microwave. The EdgeStar Mini Kegerator Refrigerator would have been our favorite choice if you had more of a choice in terms of the kegs you can use. There are some producers, most notably Heineken who do have on the market 5 liter kegs, but they are not as many as we would like to see. However, because it is so small, the EdgeStar Mini Kegerator Refrigerator is also a lot cheaper than anything you are going to find on this list and it even has a DC adapter so you can take it with your on different camping trips.

There is no way to go around the fact that EdgeStar have some of the best kegerators on the market. Their single tab kegerator is actually cheaper than the Smart+ Products one we have started this list with. In terms of looks and capabilities the 2 are very similar, however the EdgeStar does not have enough space for a CO2 tank inside, so it hangs on a special rack behind the kegerator. On the one hand, if you have enough space for it, that CO2 tank’s position does not make any difference in the taste of the beer, and you do get a significant price discount because of it. On the other hand, if you have no place to fit it in your kitchen, you may have no other option than to buy the Smart+ one.

5. Versonel Freestanding Full Keg Kegerator

If you have the money for it, the Versonel Freestanding Full Keg Kegerator is what we would deem the next generation kegerator. It is a somewhat more expensive product but it is definitely worth the money. For one, the CO2 tank can be fitted inside, so on the outside it looks like a cool, black bar piece with a single tab on top. However, the thing that sets it apart from all other products on the market is the fact that it has a built in LCD temperature display that gives you the precise temperature inside the keg. As we have already mentioned maintaining the right temperature is essential to give your beer a longer storage life and not having to guesstimate can be of great help.
