Best Meat Slicer

One of the most frustrating things you can experience as a consumer while shopping for food is to find your favorite salami or cured meat at a very reasonable price while in bulk and to find that the exact same product costs almost double when it is sliced just a few rows down the line. There is the added problem that once you slice the meat the oxidation process begins and, not matter how well it is sealed, when you buy it the taste will never be as strong as it was when that slice was first cut. The only alternative you have is to just use a regular knife but then you will notice that whatever salami or cured meat you were using will disappear much faster, because it is almost impossible to cut by hand just the correct thickness slices, and, on the other hand, you can’t really taste any significant improvement in flavor from the slightly thicker pieces. So, ultimately many of us just revert to using a knife whereas the much smarter choice, and one that would pay for itself in less than a year, would be to buy a good quality meat slicer. We have put together for you just such a list and you may note that we have purposely chosen products in all price brackets so you can have a wide range of choices, and, if you will scroll down past the list, you may find the in depth reviews we have created for each one of those products so you will more easily be able to choose the one that best fits your needs.

1. Chef’s Choice 615 Premium Electric Food Slicer

The first meat slicer we would like to draw your attention to is the one that we think would best fit most homes and most pockets. It is a bit on the pricy side, in the sense that we are going to introduce cheaper products too, but it is certainly worth every penny. The structural components, meaning anything that would be easily damaged by regular use is made from either aluminum or stainless steel so you can be sure that you will get to enjoy this meat slicer for as long as you will want. You can choose the thickness of the slices from anywhere between paper waif thin to ¾ inches thick. The other great thing about the Chef’s Choice 615 Premium Electric Food Slicer is the fact that the blade, the food pusher and deflector, the thickness guide plate and even the food carriage can be easily removed from the machine so you can pop them in the dish washer for whenever you feel that they need a deep clean. For all the other situations, though, you can actually just use a simple damp cloth to clean the entire machine between uses.

There is a very nice workaround you can sometimes use if you want to get the very best product, but you would like to get it for a discount. What you can do is you can go to a third party reseller that has bought an older generation top of the line model at a volume discount and is now selling it for a lot less than the manufacturer would have. That is exactly what EdgeCraft have done because the Chef’s Choice 610 that they are selling under their own brand was replaced by the 615 in the Chef’s Choice lineup, but they are essentially the same product. The only real difference is in the quality of the design, so if you have a very modern kitchen and would like a meat slicer to compliment it, you will have to buy the 615. But if you are not that hung up on the design factor, it would be a far wiser choice to go with the EdgeCraft 610 Chef’s Choice Premium Electric Food Slicer.

3. Continental PS77711 Professional Series Deli Slicer

As we have mentioned before, there are more affordable meat slicers on the market today, and they are actually better in some regards than either of the 2 Chef’s Choice offers we have talked about. The Continental PS77711 Professional Series Deli Slicer has a slightly bigger blade at 7.5 inches, where as the other 2 had 7 inch blades, and a much more powerful 150 W motor. We were not that impressed with the actual design of the Continental PS77711, but, as far as how well it is put together, how silently it runs, and how efficient the blade is, we were very impressed. In fact, as long as you are not looking for a particularly good looking meat slicer, and you are not hung up on having a big brand name product in your home, the Continental is definitely a better choice in terms of how much you are spending and how much you are getting back from the product.

There is also a budget friendly food slicer from Chef’s Choice, the 609 model, that we need to feature here. It has some of those great features of the 615 like the stainless steel and aluminum components, but it also has just a 7 inch blade and a price tag that is somewhat higher than that on the Continental. We would actually choose the Continental Deli Slicer over the Chef’s Choice 609, but it does exist and it is an excellent alternative for those looking for a big brand name at a bellow the average price tag.

All of the products we have been looking at so far are intended for home use so if you want to go to that next level in terms of quality you can actually purchase an entry level commercial meat slicer. The Best Choice Products® New 10″ Blade Commercial Deli Meat Slicer is actually quite affordable, especially when you take into consideration the fact that it uses a 10 inch blade and has a heavy duty stainless steel construction. This is a robust meat slicer that could be in your family for many generations, and that you can use to cut much more than just meat. It motor and moving parts are extremely silent and it can actually go through anything from bone to cheese with the same ease.
